Dynamic Sketching 1 is a class designed to develop a foundation in basic drawing skills. Students will learn how to break down objects to their most simplistic forms. Using pen and toned paper, students will learn to build confidence in your line work.
Please note that anytime a physical location (like an arboretum or museum) is mentioned during the course but is not found in your region, students can substitute these locations with alternative places in their area (i.e. a local park, their own backyard/garden, a local cultural center, ect.) or use props/found objects in place of things found in places like those.
Dynamic Sketching 2
Foundational drawing is the most important aspect of being a designer. This class is designed to take the lessons from Dynamic Sketching 1, and further the practice of applying those skills in onsite drawing while creating new concepts from particular themes. There will be more exploration on the student's part in going out and finding the required sites to draw. This is a heavier workload and more intensive training compared to the previous Dynamic Sketching 1 class. The student should be prepared to work coming into this class. It is preferred that the students locate a site for onsite drawing related to the weekly subject rather than drawing from reference.
Week 1: Reintroduction and Refresh of Dynamic Sketching
Week 2: Insects (drawing from life by either going to a natural history museum with a bug collection, or from reference collection)
Week 3: Bones (Onsite drawing at a Natural history museum that displays skeletons /fossils of prehistoric animals, or modern animals)
Week 4: Zoo (Onsite drawing at a local zoo)
Week 5: Cars (Onsite drawing at a car museum, or local car show, or from reference)
Week 6: Military vehicles (Onsite drawing at a military museum or from reference)
Week 7: Planes (Onsite drawing at an air museum or from reference)
Week 8: Recap, and beyond.
